Supporting the community

Low Fell Ukes sees itself as giving enjoyment to  our community as well as having fun doing so

What we get up to…

Performing in Care Homes

Low Fell Ukes performs in local care homes almost every week, having entertained folk over forty times last year. We take a very lighthearted approach to our performances offering great songs and dreadful jokes, (Why do aliens always spill their tea? Because they have flying saucers!) The group hopes to bring back good memories for residents as well as getting them singing and dancing. To get a taster of our performances have a look at a slot from Tyne Tees TV – Click here

Performing for Community Organisations

If we can help out Low Fell Ukes do our besty such as,

  • Playing at the Musical Cafe for people with learning difficulties and neurodiverse conditions.
  • Supporting fundrasising events
  • Playing for special events such as significant birthdays
  • Opening Gateshead Music and Beer festival for the past six years
Low Fell Ukes “Charity of the Year”

Each year members vote for a Charity of the year and the groups raises funds for the organisation largely through collections at the Ukes of the North Festival and our Christmas concert outside TESCOs, Gateshead every December.

In 2023 we raised £1000 for St Chads Kitchen and last year over £1300 for Bryson’s Animal Sanctuary. This year we hope to raise a similar amount for FACT – Fighting All Cancers Together.
