Can I join if I have never played a ukulele?

As long as you can play a handful of chords and are interested in learning you will be able to pick up our songs and have a great time. We offer beginners’ courses from time to time so keep an eye on our events page to find out more.

Do I have to attend every week?

You can come along as much or as little as you like. We have about 30 regulars while the rest just drop by when they feel like a bit of strum.

How much does it cost?

£2 a session

The session looks a little long, do you have a break?

Indeed we do. This gives folk a chance to get a drink at the bar and have a chat.

Is the club insured for accidents?

We hold Public Liability insurance that covers club members and the public. Your instruments need to be covered by your own household insurance.

Are Low Fell Ukes organised as a community organisation?

Yes, we have a constitution and a committee, which is appointed by the members at our Annual General Meeting. The committee meets three times a year and all its decisions are taken back to the members for their agreement.

Do I have to perform in public?

Not if you don't want to. We play in various settings and some folk enjoy playing in the smaller environment of care homes whilst others like to be part of the bigger events. We're sure once you've got the bug, you'll want to give it a go.

“Everyone is really friendly and really helpful if you need a hand understanding the music.”
