During 2024 and the early part of 2025 Low Fell Ukes ran three Beginners Course for folk who wanted to learn to play the ukulele. These were –
- Shakey Strummers – an absolute beginners course which attracted over twenty members. This moved on the an Improvers group after three months and has become a ukulele club , as part of Low Fell Ukes. There is a regular membership of 18 players who have a particular interest in writing songs.
- Twelve Week Beginner’s course – This course took place over the autumn 2024 and attracted a regular attendance of around ten members. The tuition was provided by Jamieson’s School of Music and funded, as were all the coiurses by the Tyne and Wear Community Foundation.
- New Teams course – This course began in January for people with learning difficulties and neurodiverse conditions. All is going well so far.
At the moment we have no plans for further beginners groups in the near future but this section contains the resource material for each of the sections of the beginners course.
