Ukes of the North Festival 2022
After the past two years of folk having to keep themselves to themselves, Low Fell Ukes want to bring together ukulele players of all abilities, from across the North East to hold a festival providing the opportunity to perform, share music and rebuild the links between ukulele clubs and players.
There has been a real revival in playing the ukulele with nearly fifty clubs and groups playing in the North East. This encompasses groups from all across the community with some catering largely for retired folk through to an increasing number of primary schools setting up their own ukulele orchestras.
Groups not only create the chance to learn and play the ukulele but also give a fun social activity for many folk living on their own. Groups also provide entertainment for care homes, nurseries and other community groups. Ukulele players love getting together to play and share. However, there are not many opportunities to do this other than on the periphery of professional ukulele festivals. These festivals are great but are few in number and can be a bit expensive for many players on a restricted budget.
The Ukes of the North Club Festival will provide the opportunity for amateur ukulele clubs, groups and soloists to take to the stage and share their music. All performers will have their own dedicated slot with staging and amplification to show them off to their finest. There will be a full day’s fun and strumming with a bar and food.
The Ukes of the North Festival will take place at Gateshead Rugby Football Club and run through the afternoon and early evening of Saturday 23rd July 2022. Should you wish to perform or just enjoy the music please complete the application form below. There is no cost but the event is by ticket only.
