Low Fell Ukes group meetings suspended
19th March 2020
Following Government guidance on the Corona virus pandemic and the closure of Gateshead Fell Cricket Club, Low Fell Ukes has suspended club meetings until, at least, after Easter.
There are members for whom the suspension of both ours and other uke clubs will create a real hole in their lives, particularly some of our more experienced and vulnerable folk who may be spending most of their time in their homes for a good while. We are wanting to care for each other and provide interest and support for members through this site and other social media outlets.
To start with I will be posting a ‘song of the week’ with links to the song, the music in our songbooks and hints as to how to play it. I hope that between this site and Facebook we can get a real interactive groove going. More to follow…
In addition, I hope we will be able to exchange email addresses (rather than our current Blind email circulation list) and begin talking to each other.
Also I will work with a couple of more knowledgeable folk to get our Facebook page humming so people can post more easily.
Finally if you have any articles, blogs, items of interest or even songs you have written…let me have them and will share through this site - See Alan Hewitt’s contribution on the Blog page.
It is really sad that the tremendous success we have had as a club has had to be halted for a while but our priority is to the health of ourselves, our families and each other. You never know, with all this practice we may give the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain a run for their money by the time we next meet face to face.
